Local disaster response group stepping up

HUMBOLDT – Loss of federal funding is affecting a variety of Humboldt County services, including disaster response, making the work of a local organization dedicated to it more relevant than ever.

In a March 4 online presentation, Nick Bown-Crawford of Humboldt Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) described the group’s work and how it’s striving to fill the gap left by alarmingly declining federal funding.
