MEETINGS

The Humboldt COAD has three primary types of recurring meetings:

  1. Quarterly General Meetings - These meetings are open and attended by our member and partner core, working group members and chairs, the general public, local elected officials and outside organizations and agencies. Major project updates are shared along with debriefs from recent major events.

  2. Working Group Meetings - These convenings are held monthly and organized by each individual working group, led by their self elected internal group Chairs. During time of disaster these groups take direction and disseminate information to their members from the COAD leadership, coordinate their resources on the ground, and report back to the larger group. During Blue Sky periods (when disasters are not active) the working groups focus on preparedness projects, share sector/industry updates, and work on chronic-disaster (ie, ongoing food insecurity, etc. that arent related to one singular event) projects.

  3. Time of Disaster Convenings/Huddles/Debriefs - Immediately following a disaster event, the COAD may engage its entire list of contacts to meet and share information and discuss the developing community impacts and unmet needs. Huddles are ongoing meetings that occur at a daily or otherwise frequency following the initial Convening around an event with the intention to share daily updates, provide virtual meeting space for local and outside partners to share resources and data, and coordinate ongoing efforts. Debriefs meetings take place after the relief and response stage has sunset around a disaster event, at these meetings lessons learned are shared and preparations for a documented after action report begins.

Humboldt COAD leverages the power of digital meeting spaces to efficiently coordinate communications, resources and build networks from the local to national levels. If you are seeking information about a specific meeting not shown here, please reach out directly.
